The Montreal Yellow Pages ecoGuide: A Practical Reference for Acting Eco-Responsibly

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Aug. 31, 2009) - Montreal residents will soon have their very own local reference focused on responsible consumption at their fingertips. The Yellow Pages(TM) ecoGuide was developed in collaboration with Equiterre and Earth Day Canada, with the City of Montreal and Recyc-Quebec contributing to the effort as well.

"We have completely revamped the community content of our directories to include a list of municipal environmental services and detailed information to help consumers take simple steps to reduce their environmental impact," explains Marc P. Tellier, President and Chief Executive Officer of Yellow Pages Group. "The ecoGuide is an extension of YPG's environmental commitment, and part of our participation in the Changing the World, One Step at a Time program developed by Equiterre."

The Montreal Yellow Pages(TM) directory featuring the new ecoGuide will be distributed throughout the month of September. It can be found among the front pages of the directory and contains:

- a list of materials that are accepted/refused in recycling bins, along with details on the collection of green and hazardous domestic waste

- a directory of more than 400 articles to be disposed of ecologically, including a list of useful addresses of where to take them

- 35 ecological certifications to help consumers make more responsible purchases

- 15 simple ways to reduce our environmental impact while saving money

- a section on composting in six easy steps

- a list of Eco-quartiers and Ecocentres in Montreal

"We chose to collaborate with Yellow Pages Group on the ecoGuide project without hesitation. It is a valuable reference to promote responsible consumption," underlined Sidney Ribaux, Co-Founder and General Coordinator of Equiterre. "We hope that with all the efforts that were aligned to produce this guide, we will be able to encourage the population to engage in simple gestures that will generate significantly positive short and long-term results."

In addition to being available in Yellow Pages(TM) directories, the ecoGuide is accessible online at an easy to remember Web address. To consult the Montreal directory online, users can simply log on to http://montreal.yellowpages.ca. By the end of 2010, more than 300 Yellow Pages(TM) directories across Canada will contain a local ecoGuide.
