The Rhône Is on a Roll!

Ideal Conditions Promise Standout 2007 Vintage

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - October 23, 2007) - A combination of exceptional weather conditions, highly attentive and skilled winegrowers, and of course, the Rhône Valley's legendary terroir, is shaping up to make the 2007 vintage an impressive one. Graced by fine, calm weather, the ripening process was slow and gentle, allowing growers to harvest later than usual. The result is a vintage characterized by lush, fruity, straightforward wines with impressive color intensity and great aging potential.

                            Top Producers Talk:
                            -------------------
"Exceptionally good weather in both the southern and northern
Rhône Valley allowed harvesting to start late. The grapes are
very healthy, beautifully ripe, bursting with fruit and are
well-balanced. The whites are quite remarkable. The reds are
fruit-driven in style, have good color and great ageing potential.
We are in the presence of a truly great vintage."
--Marcel Guigal, President of E. Guigal

"It's rare to get a great vintage in a year that ends in a '7,'
except, of course, for 1947. For the Rhône Valley, this will be
a very good vintage and I am not one to eulogise about a vintage
     unless it really deserves it."
--Jean-Pierre Perrin, President of Perrin & Fils and
       Director of Château de Beaucastel

"2007 is without doubt a great quality vintage. Conditions in the
vineyard are almost perfect -- I haven't seen that for 17 years!
Ripening was slow and gentle, producing fruity and straight-forward
     wines, showing great color."
--Jean-Jacques Dost, General Manager of Cave des Vignerons de Rasteau

In the Northern Rhône, the whites show a blend of ripe, fresh fruit with great aromatics and a rich roundness on the palate. The reds have taken on intense color, showcasing excellent structure and fruit profiles with elegant tannins.

In the Côtes du Rhône and other Southern Rhône appellations, the first juices are highly expressive, with deep color and clean, accessible fruit character. The well-rounded Grenache is developing attractive fruit notes, while the whites are showing great balance. The South's rosés are also very aromatic and boast well-developed color.

The 2007 Rhône Valley vintage is estimated at 440 million bottles, 240 million of them regional Côtes du Rhône. Benefiting from ideal conditions and decades of winemaking expertise, it promises to deliver aromatic, fruit-filled wines that retain all the virtues for which the Rhône is celebrated.
