OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 26, 2007) - The Ottawa Senators' year-long commitment to community outreach programs throughout the National Capital Region continues this month. The following is a look at the club's community schedule from Friday, Jan. 26, to Thursday, Feb. 1.

Senators players to get blackjack training from professional dealer

Ottawa Senators players Ray Emery, Brian McGrattan, Christoph Schubert and Jason Spezza will brush up on their blackjack skills following practice at Scotiabank Place on Friday, Jan. 26. The players will receive training from a professional blackjack dealer as they look to improve their skills before serving as dealers for the 2007 Bell - Ottawa Senators Viva Las Vegas Ice & Dice presented by Samsung, which is set for Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the Hilton Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, Que.

Sparty visits Scotiabank Read to Succeed winning classes

Scotiabank Read to Succeed is a literacy initiative presented free of charge by the Ottawa Senators to assist elementary school teachers in motivating their students to read on a daily basis through incentives and rewards. Each month, registered classes that reach their reading goals are entered into a draw to win one of six Sparty parties, which includes a classroom visit from Sparty, pizza courtesy of Pizza Pizza and juice courtesy of Coca Cola. Teachers interested in registering their classes for Scotiabank Read to Succeed or any other Sens@School program can do so by visiting the Senators website at www.ottawasenators.com.

This week two lucky classes will host a Sparty Party won through the Scotiabank Read to Succeed Program.

Sparty will be appearing at the Kids Learning & Growing Fair, which takes place at the Bell Sensplex in Kanata, Ont.
