Fred Meyer Broadway in Boise Announces Its 2010-2011 Broadway Season at The Morrison Center to Include the Premiere Engagement of "Wicked" Musical -- May, 2011

BOISE, ID--(Marketwire - April 1, 2010) -  The Morrison Center is proud to announce its exciting Fred Meyer Broadway In Boise 2010-2011 Broadway Season which will feature the premiere of WICKED MUSICAL May 4-15, 2011 at The Morrison Center. Called "a cultural phenomenon" by Variety and just named "the defining musical of the decade" by The New York Times, WICKED continues to thrill audiences around the world. Winner of 35 major awards, including a Grammy® Award and 3 Tony® Awards, there are currently eight productions of WICKED worldwide. WICKED MUSICAL will play Boise for two weeks, which has not been done with another Broadway show in Boise since the year 2000.

The Fred Meyer Broadway In Boise series opens with the soul-stirring musical THE COLOR PURPLE (September 25 & 26, 2010). Next is Time Magazine's 2007 pick for "#1 musical of the year," GREASE (January 14 & 15, 2011). Then, journey from Malibu to the halls of justice with the hilarious LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL (February 7-9, 2011). Enjoy the musical that has captured the hearts of people all over the world FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (March 7-9, 2011). Next, learn what happened before Dorothy dropped into Oz with the much anticipated blockbuster WICKED MUSICAL (Broadway Subscriber dates May 6-8, 2011, entire run is May 4-15, 2011).

Also, season ticket holders are first in line for the encore presentation of the "ultimate feel-good show" MAMMA MIA! (June 14-16).

"Without question, the 2010-2011 Fred Meyer Broadway in Boise line-up is the strongest season we've presented in more than a decade," said Rosemary Reinhardt, Interim Executive Director of the Morrison Center. "We fully expect Wicked to break Morrison Center box office records. So if you aren't already a season subscriber, this is definitely the year to become one." 

"Wicked fans travel far and wide to see this incredible show which can result in a nice boost to the local economy," said Reinhardt. 

Based on research conducted by the League of American Theatres, blockbuster shows such as Wicked generate three dollars in the local economy for every dollar spent on a ticket in the form of hotel reservations, restaurant dining, shopping, and spending on other local services.

Renewal packets will be mailed to current season tickets holders in early April. Prices for the five-show season range from $180.50 - $292.50 depending on seating preference. Broadway in Boise season subscribers may also choose a show package without Grease ($153.50 - $245). Patrons renewing their subscriptions receive priority seating through April 23rd.

This year marks the end of free event parking on the Boise State University campus. Season subscribers may purchase a $25 parking pass good for every performance including Mamma Mia! The pass may be purchased along with their season tickets and will allow for parking in the surface lots near the Morrison Center. Regular ticket holders and subscribers choosing not to purchase the parking pass will be directed to the Brady parking garage and asked to pay cash upon entry.
