The World Gets "Munked" for the "Alvin and the Chipmunks" Movie

Viral Campaign Lets Users Transform Their Own Voice Into the Playful Signature Voice of The Chipmunks

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - November 19, 2007) - This Christmas, the greatest gift isn't under the tree, it's in it. Alvin, Simon and Theodore will come out of the forest and straight into pop culture. Audiences everywhere will get to experience "Alvin and the Chipmunks" on the big screen starting December 14th, 2007, and on their computer screens right now.

To help promote the film worldwide and bring the characters to life in the digital world, 20th Century has launched "Munk Yourself" at www.munkyourself.com, an interactive experience where users can express their inner chipmunk. You can "chipmunk" your own voice and create a customized audio message, as well as build a chipmunk avatar. Using technology from Oddcast, the site allows users to record their own voice via mic and by phone (US only), or use text-to-speech to create a computer-generated message. The system uses a special voice filter that transforms the user's dialogue into the iconic sound of The Chipmunks. Site visitors can then download their recording to their computers, or send their "munked message" via email to friends and family.

The application was developed with Soap Creative, located in Sydney, Australia. "From the beginning, we knew this project was going to be special, and working with such a great group, it's been a fun ride bringing Alvin to life in the digital space. With the site and extensions across mobile and social networks we can't wait to see results!" said Leonardo Zamboni, Managing Partner, Soap.

In addition, as part of the "Alvin and the Chipmunks" GetMunked promotion, Telescope, Inc. has developed a way to offer free Chipmunk mobile voicetones. Telescope, which delivers participation media and mobile marketing for consumer interaction solutions, powers a viral promotion for "GetMunked" where users have the chance to send one of 20 different chipmunk mobile voicetones to a friend's cell phone.

Also notable is that the site is the first to launch with Oddcast's text-to-speech capabilities in 14 different languages. These include Catalan, Chinese (Mandarin), Dutch, English (US, UK, AU), French (Parisian, Canadian), German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian, European), Spanish (Castilian, Mexican, Argentine, Chilean) and Swedish.
