They Say Elephants Never Forget. Neither Do Our Guests

Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle Recognized as Best Travel Experience in the World

TORONTO, CANADA--(Marketwire - Nov. 3, 2008) - The readers of Conde Nast Traveler have named Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle the “best of the best” in the magazine's 21st Annual Readers' Choice Awards.

Open since January 2006, Four Seasons Tented Camp is nestled in the heart of the Golden Triangle, where Thailand meets Laos and Burma. Accessible only by riverboat, the property consists of 15 free-standing tented accommodations on elevated ground catering to a maximum of 30 guests.

“The Tented Camp is Four Seasons' first all-inclusive jungle experience,” said Kathleen Taylor, president and chief operating officer, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. “We're delighted at the confidence the readers of Conde Nast Traveler have shown in the Camp concept and in the Four Seasons brand.”

This is the fourth time a Four Seasons property has been awarded the “best of the best” distinction – more than any other brand. Previous properties that have received the accolade include Four Seasons Resort Nevis, West Indies (1995), Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay (1999) and Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan (2006).

“It is gratifying for my team and me personally that our dedication to service combined with the unique setting and experience of Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle has been recognized by the world's most sophisticated travelers,” added Rainer Stampfer, regional vice president and general manager, Four Seasons Hotels Thailand. “I'm proud of this award and of the commitment and generosity shown by those who have made our animal rescue program such a success.”

When it opened in January 2006, Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle became a founding member of the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation (GTAEF), which offers guests the opportunity to rescue elephants off the streets of Thailand and provide them with a safe, humane, and natural environment. Since then, the Foundation has successfully rescued 11 elephant babies off Thai city streets. Donations made through GTAEF go directly to the care and welfare of these adopted elephants, with all administration and logistical support covered by Four Seasons Tented Camp. At the Camp, rescued elephants enjoy a 200 acre sanctuary in the jungle; have access to professional care and an endless supply of bananas, bamboo and sugar cane.
