ThreatMetrix a Finalist for Silicon Valley Business Journal Emerging Technology Award

Device Identification Technology for Online Fraud Prevention Wows Editors Evaluating Security Products

LOS ALTOS, CA--(Marketwire - November 4, 2009) - ThreatMetrix, the market-leading provider of device identification software for preventing online fraud, today announced it's been named a finalist for a 2009 Emerging Technology Award from the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal. ThreatMetrix was chosen as a finalist for the Security category after a comprehensive evaluation of local companies and technologies by the publication's editors. The Business Journal will announce the winner at an event on December 3 at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View.

The Emerging Technology Awards are now in their fourth year. To choose recipients, the Business Journal takes nominations from outside sources and also does its own research to find what it considers to be ground-breaking and potentially disruptive technology. Its criteria includes the potential viability of the companies, the newness and usefulness of the technology, and the "wow" factor that clearly sets something apart.

ThreatMetrix, whose device identification solutions profile computers used in online transactions, has been growing rapidly since it began selling product in January. The company now boasts more than 60 customers including many prominent social networking and dating sites, online merchants and financial services firms.

"We're honored to have been recognized by the editors at the Silicon Valley Business Journal," said Reed Taussig, CEO at ThreatMetrix. "Though still relatively new, device identification is turning up on every e-commerce company's must-have list of tools for stopping cyber crime and protecting legitimate customers. We're confident this trend will continue as more companies experience the power, ease-of-use and return-on-investment that are device identification hallmarks."
