Three More Groups of CUPE School Board Workers Overwhelmingly Ratify New Contract

WINDSOR, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 25, 2010) - Three more groups of CUPE school board workers have overwhelmingly ratified their new contract.

CUPE National Representative Carl Crouse says employees of the Tri-County Regional School Board, members of Local 964, voted 95% in favour of the five-year deal.

CUPE School Board Co-ordinator Kathy MacLeod says employees of the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board, Local 5050, voted 94% in favour, while employees of the Strait Regional Board voted 96% in favour.

Here are the wage highlights of the five-year deal that runs from April 1, 2007 to April 1, 2011:

- 2.9% wage increase retroactive to April 1, 2007

- 2.9% wage increase retroactive to April 1, 2008

- 2.9% wage increase retroactive to April 1, 2009

- 1% wage increase, April 1, 2010

- 1% wage increase, April 1, 2011
