TiE-Boston Announces Third Annual Young Entrepreneurs Business Plan Competition

Award-Winning Program Includes Series of Workshops Presented by Local Business Leaders and $10,000 Cash Prize

BURLINGTON, MA--(Marketwire - October 9, 2007) - The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Boston chapter, of the world's largest not-for-profit organization for entrepreneurs, is pleased to announce its third annual TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) Business Plan competition. Registration for individuals and teams begins with a kick-off event on October 16th, 2007 at Doubletree Guest Suites in Waltham, MA, and is open through December 1st, 2007.

This year's TYE Business Plan competition received the award for "Most Successful Involvement of Young Entrepreneurs" from TiE Global at a ceremony in Hawaii in August. The competition includes a series of workshops presented by successful entrepreneurs and business leaders that will teach students how to build and write a business plan, taking place from January through April of 2008. Next, student teams get to work and turn their ideas into an actual business plan that is submitted to a panel of judges from the VC and entrepreneurial business sectors at the end of May 2008, with four finalist teams selected. The winning team is announced at TiECON East, which will be held May 29 - 30, 2008, with a $10,000 cash prize awarded.

"The young people of today are the business leaders of tomorrow, and TiE dares New England's most talented young entrepreneurs to be creative and dream big with our annual business plan competition," said Geetha Ramamurthy, executive director, TiE-Boston. "The real-world experience gained throughout this competition provides invaluable insight and knowledge to our student teams."

Entry into the TiE Young Entrepreneurs Business Plan competition is free and open to all high school students in grades 9-12 who are TiE-Boston student members. Interested candidates who are not currently members can join TiE-Boston as a student member for a $25 annual membership fee.
