Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre: Toronto Hosts the International Tibetan Film Festival

October 18-24, 2009

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 8, 2009) - The International Tibetan Film Festival (ITFF) is a FREE EVENT being hosted at the Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre (TCCC) in collaboration with The Foundation for Universal Responsibility of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, New Delhi, India.

The ITFF will premier more than 30 critically acclaimed films that explore Tibet's timeless spiritual and cultural traditions, and its troubled political history; which has challenged the moral conscience of the international community for decades.

The Festival will open with a Welcome Reception hosted by the Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre. Opening the ITFF will be the screening of "THE MESSAGE OF THE TIBETANS" by Arnaud Desjardins about the people of the Tibet and their life. Also premiering is the much anticipated documentary "LEAVING FEAR BEHIND" What do Tibetans in Tibet think about the Beijing Olympic Games? by Dhondup Wangchen & Jigme Gyatso. For five months, from October 2007 to March 2008, the amateur duo filmmakers secretly filmed in Tibet. They were both arrested and imprisoned at the end of March after the protests erupted, but not before they had managed to smuggle their tapes safely to Switzerland.
