TicketLiquidator's Ticket of the Week: "A Little Night Music" Tickets

VERNON, CT--(Marketwire - December 22, 2009) - TicketLiquidator, the leading provider of the world's most extensive online ticket inventory of hard-to-find, low-priced tickets, now offers "A Little Night Music" tickets featuring Angela Lansbury and Catherine Zeta-Jones on Broadway.

"A Little Night Music," based on the late Ingmar Bergman film "Smiles of a Summer Night," opened to exclusive audiences for preview on November 24 at the Walter Kerr Theatre in New York City. The production, directed by three-time Tony Award winning director Trevor Nunn, stars Oscar winner Catherine Zeta-Jones and five-time Tony Award winner Angela Lansbury.

The play was written by Hugh Wheeler and Stephen Sondheim and originally ran for 601 performances during its Broadway (tickets) debut in 1973. The original production received critical acclaim, garnering a New York Drama Critics Circle Award and Tony Award for Best Musical (tickets).

The play, set in a Swedish country house at the turn of the century, follows the story of a dissatisfied husband, Fredrik Egerman, and his young, chaste trophy-wife. During a holiday to the countryside, Fredrik encounters an old fling and a bit of liaison-forming ensues.

This will be Catherine Zeta-Jones' Broadway debut; however, the A-list celebrity is no stranger to the stage. The Welsh-born actress began her career starring in West End (tickets) performances of "42nd Street" and "Street Scene" in the late eighties. Zeta-Jones won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in "Chicago" and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a cast in a Motion Picture for "Traffic."

Angela Lansbury, now eighty-four, has starred in Broadway musicals ranging from "Gypsy" (tickets) to "Sweeny Todd" and a recent revival of "Blithe Spirit" at the Shubert Theatre. The "Murder She Wrote" star began her career on film, earning an Academy Award nomination for "Gaslight" as a teenager.

"Audience members have the opportunity to witness Angela Lansbury up-close and experience another facet of Catherine Zeta-Jones," stated Alexandra Owens, Media Relations, TicketLiquidator. "'A Little Night Music' is a clear Sondheim favorite for devoted fans."

According to New York Magazine, "Catherine Zeta-Jones blazes with charisma, verve and wit as Desirée... Not to be missed is the venerable Lansbury putting her personal stamp on another Sondheim character." With a long string of performances ahead, "A Little Night Music" tickets are the TicketLiquidator "Ticket of the Week."
