TicketNetwork Advisory -- Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch Join A Little Night Music

VERNON, CT--(Marketwire - June 23, 2010) -  When A Little Night Music returns from hiatus on July 13, the leading roles will be filled by two Broadway giants: Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch. During its very successful initial run, the musical revival was nominated for four Tony awards, including Best Revival of a Musical, Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical, and Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical (the last of which was awarded to the original star of the revival, Catherine Zeta-Jones).

The musical, written by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler, is based on the Ingmar Bergman film Smiles of a Summer Night. It follows actress Desirée Armfeldt as she visits a country house in turn-of-the-century Sweden, where long-awaited and sometimes surprising liaisons occur. Peters will assume the role of the mysterious and sensual Desirée, while Stritch will take over the role of Madame Armfeldt (for which Angela Lansbury was nominated for a Tony this year).

The musical comedy received positive reviews throughout its run, and with several Tony nominations and weeks of grossing among the top ten Broadway shows, A Little Night Music tickets may be snapped up quickly for the show's return.
