Tirex Resources Announces Arrival of Drill to Albania

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 14, 2008) - Tirex Resources Ltd. ("Tirex") (TSX VENTURE:TXX) is pleased to announce that the core drill has arrived in Albania. Field crews are now completing final preparations for the first drill sites at Mirdita for drilling which is expected to commence during the next ten days. The commencement of drilling represents the next phase of aggressive and intense exploration at Mirdita. The drilling follows up on a successful 2007 field program during which state-of-the art exploration methods and equipment complimented historical data to identify initial drill targets.

Preparations are underway to minimize turnaround times for assays. The first phase construction of a new field camp located a few hundred meters from the initial drill sites has been completed. The close proximity of the camp to the drill sites will avoid delays in transport of core from the drill site to enable more rapid processing of core. Plans are in place to then priority air freight core samples from Albania to Canada to avoid delays in transport of samples to the laboratory. Arrangements are being made with a Canadian laboratory to then expedite assays for priority samples. Turnaround time from drill site to final assays is typically slow in the industry these days due to high volumes of exploration activity worldwide. Tirex is drawing on the experience of their veteran exploration management and their long time contacts in the industry to minimize its turnaround times.

The first drill target at the Mirdita Project is the Koshaj Deposit. The Koshaj Deposit was one of many deposits previously drilled and partially defined on the property by the State Mining Company. It was reported to be a zinc-rich deposit which was not mined because of a lack of zinc processing facilities. Tirex drill targets at Koshaj were identified by a combination of historical data compilation and results from the Tirex 2007 airborne geophysical survey and the follow up UTEM ground geophysical work.

Tirex's focus is the exploration and development of the large 344 square kilometer Mirdita Property in Albania. The property is readily accessible by paved and gravel roads and is located 70 km north of the capital city of Tirana. The property covers the core of the historically productive Mirdita VMS base metal district. It represents an opportunity to explore copper, zinc, gold and silver zones that were previously partially mined, explored or evaluated at lower metal prices, and provides an opportunity to apply modern exploration techniques toward the discovery of new VMS deposits or extensions of known zones. The Mirdita exploration project is managed by an experienced team of five Canadian geologists and several senior Albanian geologists, geophysicists and surveyors.

George Gorzynski, Director, states, "I am very proud of our veteran technical team on the Mirdita Project and what they have accomplished since Tirex began trading on the TSX Venture Exchange. In that time they have established a base camp and communications centre in the local town, built the first phase of a large field camp near the drill sites, successfully completed the initial part of the UTEM geophysics program with significant results, completed a large amount of mapping and reconnaissance sampling, and largely completed preparations for the drill program. We are confident their experience and enthusiasm will continue to move the project rapidly forward in 2008."
