Toasting the Cold War on Independence Day

RU-21 Becomes First Russian-Made Product to Successfully Sell in US Mass Retail

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 24, 2005 -- RU-21, a pill invented in Russia during the Cold War to stave off negative effects of alcohol, has become the first and so far the only Russian-made consumer product to successfully sell in US mass retail.

By July 4th, RU-21 will expand its US distribution by going into 2300 Albertons/Osco/Sav-On stores across the country, just in time for Independence Day celebrations. RU-21 is already available nationwide through GNC, as well as hundreds of independent stores and regional chains. The product is scheduled to arrive in other mass chains this fall.

With the exception of vodka, consumer goods labeled "Made in Russia" don't normally sell outside countries of the former Soviet Union. Earlier this year, Forbes Russia reported that RU-21 is the only Russian brand ever to achieve worldwide popularity and loyal following. "They were impressed with our business model, which is a perfect marriage of Russian science and American marketing," says Donna Kasseinova, the company's CEO.

RU-21 also made history as the first product on the market to receive widespread publicity as an effective cure for hangovers, and its huge media exposure played a key role in establishing a hangover prevention category in retail.

By the end of 2005, Spirit Sciences USA is planning to introduce two new products developed in its Moscow-based laboratory. One of the upcoming products, preliminarily called "RU-21 Red," already made international headlines in response to brief information that was released by the company in February. "These new products are sure to reshape the category," Kasseinova says.

Spirit Sciences USA, Inc. is a California-based corporation involved in the discovery, development, manufacturing and distribution of break-through health products. The company's R&D department is based in Moscow, where it employs some of the leading Russian scientists.

RU-21, frequently referred to as the "KGB pill," is an all-natural formula designed to help the body break down toxic byproducts of metabolism of alcohol, which cause hangovers, premature skin aging, alcoholism and a host of other alcohol-related diseases.

RU-21 was developed and clinically tested at the Russian Academy of Sciences.
