Tom Daglis Joins Lakewood Country Club as Director of Tennis

Puts Club Back in Regional Tennis Ranks

ROCKVILLE, MD--(Marketwire - November 20, 2008) - When it comes to tennis, Tom Daglis has done it all -- taught, competed, managed, and earned the coveted USPTA (United States Professional Tennis Association) Master Professional Certification. This certification is held by less than 1 percent of the USPTA membership worldwide. Daglis is sharing all this and more with the 49-year-old Lakewood Country Club in Rockville, Maryland, as its new Director of Tennis and Fitness Operations.

"We are delighted that Tom has joined the Lakewood team. He has an excellent reputation in local and national tennis circles, and we are confident that he will have a tremendous impact on the quality of our tennis programs, classes and events," emphasized Lakewood General Manager Jorge Massa. Tom has already begun to reenergize the Club's championships, and is quick to point out that there's a place for everybody from beginners to experts. One of his first major moves is to introduce Lakewood Country Club to an annual USTA Junior Sanctioned Tennis Tournament. "Lakewood's tennis facility has the potential to be one of the most active and diverse in the Mid-Atlantic region. I'm excited to be able to help the club realize this potential," said Daglis.

Throughout his 25 years in the tennis industry, the USPTA has honored Tom with distinctions such as the 2003 George Basco Tester of the Year, 1992 Southern Professional of the Year, two-time Georgia Professional of the Year, and in 2006 the USPTA awarded him their prestigious tribute as the Alex Gordon National Professional of the Year Award. He has been a USTA Zonal Coach and is currently the national first vice president of the USPTA.
