Top MDI Business Analysts Explain Holistic IT Project Approach

NORCROSS, GA--(Marketwire - November 12, 2007) - Traditionally, companies involved in IT projects have focused most of their attention on managing projects, often overlooking the strategic importance of analyzing scope and requirements up front. Today, many leading companies are recognizing the power of a holistic approach to project governance, a system that benefits greatly when driven by project management and guided by business analysis.

Project governance experts from MDI, a nationally known, high-growth project services and professional staffing firm, recently spoke about and published an article related to the growing importance of business analysis during IT project implementation.

"As companies evolve and mature in their understanding and use of business analysis, the likelihood of successful project implementation increases greatly," said MDI Project Governance Practice Director Eshan Chawla. "Studies show that more than half of defects in IT projects arise during the requirements phase, and the costs for these defects exceed 80 percent of IT project costs."

With 17 years of practical experience and three master's degrees -- one each in business administration, computer science and physics -- and certifications from the Project Management Institute (PMI), ITIL and Six Sigma, Chawla is often asked to share his project governance knowledge and expertise. Some of the events he has recently spoken include

-- International Institute of Business Analysts, Columbus
-- BA World, Atlanta
-- Maricopa County, Phoenix

Also, Chawla and MDI consultant Charlynn Helms published an article titled, Business Analysts: The Bridge Between Requirements and QA. The article appeared in both the spring 2007 edition of The Bridge, a publication of B2T Training, and on TechLINKS.
