Toronto Hydro Update to Power Restoration

TORONTO--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 22) - Toronto Hydro crews are continuing to restore power to customers affected by the storm that passed through the GTA on Friday. A small number of customers are still without power in small pockets of North York and Scarborough.

Significant progress has been made since Friday as crews responded to hundreds of localized outages, removed damaged tree limbs and repaired electrical equipment. Crews will continue to restore power in stages throughout the morning and expect to have all neighbourhoods back on the grid through the afternoon.

Customers may report power outages or electrical emergencies 24 hours a day by calling 416-542-8000. Call volume has decreased and some calls will be duplicates resulting from multiple calls from customers in a single power outage area, as well as downed telephone and cable television wires. We ask that customers do not call more than once as this slows response time.

Outages affecting one or two homes, or small businesses, are still being reported as residents return to the City from weekend getaways. Crews are being dispatched to these locations as larger outages are cleared.
