Toronto Transit Commission: Cease and Desist Order Upheld by Labour Board

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - May 29, 2006) - The Ontario Labour Relations Board has heard arguments by both the TTC and the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 113 and has ruled to uphold the original order to the Union to cease and desist their unlawful strike.

In an effort to backstop this ruling, the TTC has filed the order with the courts. If the Union does not stop the unlawful strike, the TTC will initiate action whereby the Union can be found in contempt of the courts.

The TTC will make every effort to provide rush hour service today. This afternoon's service is subject to the Union obeying the order.
