Trainer Communications Wins Two National Awards for Pro Bono Work on the Mt. Diablo Region YMCA Marketing and PR Campaign

Awards Recognize Trainer's Innovative and Creative Approach to Integrated Public Relations and Marketing Communications

PLEASANTON, CA--(Marketwire - November 16, 2009) - Trainer Communications, the premier provider of integrated marketing and high-tech public relations services that create global market leaders, today announced that the firm has won two awards for its pro bono work for the Mt. Diablo Region YMCA capital campaign to build and remodel three facilities in Contra Costa County: the International Gold MarCom Award from the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals (AMCP) and an honorable mention from the PR News Nonprofit PR Awards. In the past five years, Trainer has been recognized with more than a dozen national awards for its excellence in public relations, marketing, and video services.

About the MarCom Awards

The MarCom Awards is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals. The Gold Award is presented to applicants judged to exceed the high standards of the industry norm. Of the almost 5,000 entries in this year's competition, only 18 percent received Gold awards.

For the third time in three years, AMCP has awarded Trainer Communications the industry's prestigious MarCom Gold Award for excellence in the communications industry. This year the agency won for its innovative, fully integrated communications and public relations plan to create community awareness and raise $8.1 million to enable the Mt. Diablo Region YMCA to expand and remodel its facilities. For this campaign, Trainer designed an exclusive wine and food event to support fundraising efforts, created a media strategy generating coverage in local publications, implemented a social media plan, and designed promotional flyers for distribution in the local school systems and at the YMCA facilities.

"We are pleased to be a recipient of the award-winning services this talented team delivers and congratulate them on receiving national recognition from their peers," said Michael Erwin, president, Mt. Diablo Region YMCA. "Thanks to Trainer's generous donation of its services, we are reaching the community effectively, which helps us reach our funding goals, build the facilities we need to support the community, and accommodate the sharp population growth taking place in Contra Costa County."

About the PR News Nonprofit Awards

Trainer Communications also received an honorable mention from the PR News Nonprofit PR Awards program. This awards program is dedicated to honoring the most talented and innovative communicators, professionals and teams in the nonprofit PR marketplace. From among hundreds of applicants, Trainer Communications was selected as one of the top five in the Fundraising/Membership category. Susan Thomas, president of Trainer Communications, attended the awards luncheon, held in Washington, D.C., on November 3.

"We are proud to have been selected as a MarCom Gold winner and appreciate the honorable mention from the Nonprofit PR Awards for our efforts with the YMCA. These awards are a testament to the quality, creativity and innovation we bring to our clients," said Thomas. "For the past five years, we have offered our services to the Mt. Diablo Region YMCA on a pro bono basis. The YMCA and the Trainer team of highly talented individuals share the same core values of enriching the lives of all people in the community through programs that strengthen the spirit, mind and body. We are honored to be recognized for our work with such an outstanding organization."
