Trapeze Upgrades to VeriWave WLAN Test Platform

Comprehensive Performance Test Suite Optimizes Voice, Quality of Service, Scalability

PORTLAND, OR -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 25, 2006 -- Leading Wireless LAN (WLAN) provider Trapeze Networks is leveraging VeriWave, Inc.'s comprehensive performance analysis system to deliver the industry's first toll-quality voice-over-WLANs (VoWLAN). Trapeze chose VeriWave's WaveTest 90 system to test its recently released Mobility System Software 5.0 which overcomes quality limitations that have delayed adoption of Voice-over-WLAN (VoWLAN) in the enterprise. In order to establish these new key benchmarks for voice quality, scalability, security and overall network performance, Trapeze utilized the automated, repeatable, and high performance testing offered by VeriWave's WaveTest 90 system and VoIP / Quality of Service (QoS) application suite.

"We could not have delivered such a high quality product, if it hadn't been for the testing we have done using the VeriWave system," commented John Cladianos, Director of Technical Marketing at Trapeze. "VoIP deployments have surpassed traditional telecom systems in the enterprise, and the extension of voice to the Wireless LAN will occur now that real real-world challenges such as guaranteed quality of service are being resolved. It is essential that voice and quality of service metrics are measured and met using a fully loaded network with a large number of simultaneous mobile subscribers. VeriWave offers the only solution that allows us to conduct the rigorous development and QA testing that is essential for VoIP deployment in WLAN networks."

James Reeves, Vice President, Engineering, at Trapeze adds, "Creating tests to precisely measure and establish eMOS scores, WMM quality of service differentiation, and fast roaming of hundreds of wireless LAN clients in a multi-AP network was impossible to do before VeriWave. We had to rely on a mix of homegrown solutions and other limited offerings that only test one metric at a time. Aside from the complexity of these systems, we could only perform tests using a handful of access points never truly being able to verify the scale of a real-world deployment. With VeriWave, not only are we now able to fully automate our tests, we have achieved significant cost-reductions in our quality assurance cycles."

VeriWave Vice President of Marketing Eran Karoly says VeriWave solutions are designed to help vendors reduce cost and minimize time to market while verifying competitive advantages. "We are honored to partner with such a prestigious and innovative leader as Trapeze Networks," says Karoly. "We're proud to have helped Trapeze be first to market with a fully IEEE 802.11e compliant VoWLAN solution."

Beyond Interoperability: Testing for Performance & Profitability

Late last year, VeriWave introduced the industry's most comprehensive test system for WLAN networks. The WaveTest™ platform provides large scale, automated testing for wireless networks by creating thousands of configurable clients across a large number of Access Points. WaveTest has the ability to recreate conditions observed during client roaming due to interference, client contention, security and other factors that impact network performance. All tests are repeatable and automated which shortens test cycles, lowers test cost and increases test coverage. The newly announced VoIP/QoS Service Assurance Test Suite includes applications that validate and ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in high performance Voice over WLAN (VoWLAN) networks.
