Travel Bag Designer Stephanie Johnson Shares Expert Packing Tips for Holidays

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - October 30, 2007) - As the designer and founder of her eponymous travel/cosmetics bag company, Stephanie Johnson (www.stephaniejohnson.com) has flown more than six million miles in her lifetime. Her extreme globe-trotting, combined with her travel-savvy designing, has made her very experienced in traveling... and packing. "After so much flying and designing so many bags, I know exactly what to pack so that I have just what I need, even if I am thousands of miles from home," said Johnson.

Johnson has a "travel drawer" at home to store all her favorite travel necessities and trial-sized products and also keeps one of her favorite bags--the "Demi Cargo"-- packed with batteries, chargers and international converters. The rest of her tips are below:

For Carry-On:

-- Use a carry-on with wheels. Johnson travels with lots of heavy
magazines, so she designed the "Wendy" carry-on which is functional and
stylish. (Plus, the wheels make toting safer for your back).
-- Bring your own empty water bottle on the plane (Johnson favors Voss or
Fiji) and have the flight attendants refill it.
-- Add 1 tablespoon of chlorophyll to water to help with circulation.
-- Bring a pashmina to replace the airline blanket; it is warmer and more
    hygienic.
-- Wear Thorlo socks to protect feet while going through security, or
pack them to stay warm during flight.
-- If you wear contacts, try to fly without them and only put them in
    when landing.
-- Take Airborne prior to your trip to build immunity and pack more "just
    in case."
-- Remember Shout Swipes for in-flight spills.
-- For relaxation, Johnson suggests Bose noise-canceling earphones and an
    eye mask.
-- Try Bigelow's Mentha Lip Tint for moisture with a little color.
-- Pack the items you will use first on top in the carry-on so they are
    immediately accessible.

For the Suitcase:

-- Place toiletry bottles upright in a cosmetic bag, then slightly loosen
the cap, and don't fill to the very top. (Pressure in the plane may force
    contents to expand and overflow.)
-- Place scented dryer sheets between clothing.
-- Dry-clean good clothes and have them stuffed with tissue paper.
-- Pack a travel-size bottle of The Laundress Crease Release for extra
    wrinkle removing.
-- Try shoe, lingerie and laundry bags from Anna Moi for extra
    orderliness.
-- Use travel cases that are a good fit for your toiletries. For
example, Johnson uses her own "Jenny" Train Case that perfectly fits her
    Keihl's products.
