Triex Minerals Corporation: 2007 Hornby Bay Exploration Program

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 30, 2007) - Triex Minerals Corporation (TSX VENTURE:TXM) ("Triex") and Pitchstone Exploration Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:PXP) are pleased to outline their 2007 exploration program for the Hornby Basin projects in Nunavut. The 50:50 joint venture between Triex and Pitchstone (the "Joint Venture") is actively exploring five properties in the basin, including the Mountain Lake uranium deposit. The main objective of this year's program is to test for additional deposits in the district. For property locations, visit the Company's website at

A $2.3 million budget has been approved for 2007. This includes 5,000 metres of diamond drilling. There are four main targets based on airborne radiometric anomalies, radioactive boulder fields, and geological setting: Dismal Lake; Jenny Lake; Helmut, and; Kendall River (see Hornby Basin project map on website). Hole locations are established at Dismal, Jenny and Helmut. Drilling at Kendall River is contingent on results from additional prospecting and resistivity mapping. The probable extension of the Mountain Lake deposit to the north will also be tested during this program.

Construction of an ice-strip and re-opening of the Kirwin Lake camp is scheduled for early-mid April, with drilling planned to start in late April. Connors Drilling Ltd. has been contracted to conduct this work. A down-hole Mount Sopris 2PGA-1000 poly-gamma probe will facilitate on-site comparison of results with those from the Mountain Lake deposit in 2006.

The Mountain Lake deposit contains the only identified uranium resource in the Hornby Basin (Inferred Mineral Resource of 8.2 million pounds U3O8, with an average grade of 0.23% U3O8 contained in 1.6 million tonnes of rock; see NI 43-101 Technical Report on SEDAR).

Triex is operator of the Joint Venture. Allan Armitage, Ph.D., P.Geo., is a Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101, and is responsible for program design and quality control of exploration undertaken by Triex in the Hornby Basin. This release has been reviewed by Dr. Michael Gunning, Ph.D., P.Geo., President of Triex and a Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43- 101.

Triex is a Canadian junior mineral exploration company currently focused on uranium opportunities in three separate districts in North America. Eight main projects span grass roots reconnaissance exploration to advanced-stage resource delineation, with a 2007 exploration budget of $8.7 million.
