UBOC 8 Delivers Over $1.57 Million Prize Pool, UB's Richest in the Ten Year History of the Online Poker Site

With 628 Players Registered in the $1 Million Guaranteed UBOC 8 Deepstack NLH 6 Max Event, the Prize Pool Catapulted to $1,570,000; Online Poker Player SEBBAU Took Home $330,990 for His First Place Finish

MIAMI, FL--(Marketwire - January 25, 2010) - UBOC 2010 is breaking records and delivering prize pools that are far exceeding the Guarantees predicted, and yesterday's UBOC 8, with its $1.57 Million prize money, is nothing short of massive for the online poker site. Arguably the showcase event of the UBOC championship tournament series, the $2,500 6-Max event came with a $1 million guarantee, which was dramatically smashed after 628 players signed up for the event. Players turned out in force to support UBOC 8, hosted by Team UB's big guns Phil Hellmuth and Joe Sebok, and by the time registration closed, there was $1,570,000 up for grabs and the top four finishers were assured six figure paydays, including SEBBAU, who walked away $330,900 richer for finishing in top spot.

"Despite going out just before the money in UBOC 8, the tournament still left me with an incredible feeling as we ended up building the richest prize pool in the history of UB," said Joe Sebok. "I think it sets the tone for what I think will be the best UBOC ever for our players. 2010 is just the beginning of great things to come for UB and our community."

The UBOC 8 Deepstack NLH 6 Max $1 Million Guaranteed tournament kicked off on Sunday, January 24th at 16:00 ET. LIV_BOEREE was the only UB pro to make it into the money with her 42nd place showing. Boeree and 65 others, including PURPLEPILS99 (14th) who backed up a $22,491.00 second place finish in UBOC 3, all walked away with more money than they started with, but it was the following six players who battled it out at the final table for the big bucks:

Seat 1 - PHILBORT (1,021,466 in chips)

Seat 2 - GROENGRAS (468,944 in chips)

Seat 3 - GIT PAPER (114,607 in chips)

Seat 4 - SEBBAU (662,824 in chips)

Seat 5 - DOOSHDOTCOM1 (714,871 in chips)

Seat 6 - UPAY4RHINOS (157,288 in chips)

It was destined to be a final table to make 'Deutschland' proud, with the Heads up play coming down to two well-known online poker players from Germany dominating at the felt. The final two paused play to make a deal and, despite having the chip lead SEBBAU offered PHILBORT more money than the chip chop offered him. PHILBORT was quick to accept the proposed $250,000 payday while SEBBAU took $290,900. $40,000 was set aside for the eventual winner and play resumed. The match-up proved to be short-lived, and the players soon ended up in a $40,000 coin flip with PHILBORT holding 5h-5s to SEBBAU's Ah-7d. The Flop 7h-2c-Kd connected with SEBBAU and the Ks on the turn brought no relief to PHILBORT. The river card Kc secured a Full House, kings full of sevens, and victory for SEBBAU, as well as the $330,900 first prize.

Here are the final table results for UBOC 8:

1st: SEBBAU ($330,900.00)

2nd: PHILBORT ($250,000.00)

3rd: GROENGRAS ($146,010.00)

4th: GIT PAPER ($102,050.00)

5th: DOOSHDOTCOM1 ($86,350.00)

6th: UPAY4RHINOS ($70,650.00)

A Bounty of $2500 in poker tournament dollars was paid to LIV_BOEREE, who knocked out fellow Team UB Pro and co-host of UBOC 8, JOESEBOK, and to BADBERT18, who took down the legendary PHILHELLMUTH early on in the game.

UB's Online Championship series features over $4 Million in prize money and an exciting calendar of daily events, that cover a mix of popular online poker games, including No Limit Texas Hold'em, HORSE, Pot Limit Omaha, 8 Game Mix, 4 MAX, 6 MAX, Heads Up and more. The UBOC action continues this week, and culminates in the $1K+50 1 Million Guaranteed UBOC Championship event, scheduled for Sunday, January 31st at 16:00 ET.

For players looking to get in on the action for less, there are nine remaining events in a parallel series, billed as Mini-UBOC. With the exception of the two $1 million poker tournaments, each UBOC event is mirrored by a separate Mini-UBOC event where online poker players can buy in for approximately 10% of the corresponding UBOC event and compete for an attractive prize pool.
