U.K. Government Backs 1,520-Megawatt Carrington CCGT Plant, an Industrial Info News Alert

GALWAY, IRELAND--(Marketwire - April 8, 2010) -  Written by Martin Lynch, European News Editor for Industrial Info (Galway, Ireland) -- The U.K. government has given the green light to a new 1,520-megawatt combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant in Carrington, Greater Manchester. Permission for the project was granted by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) to Wainstones Energy Limited (Manchester, England). The Carrington power plant will have a construction period of about 30 months and will be fully operational by 2013.
