Social Web Media Limited has today announced the launch of their new gig search engine and live music community website. The Manchester-based start-up company has bold plans to build the UK's largest gig search engine over coming months and wants to include its first users in the building process too.

Already hosting over 20,000 gigs the website called Get Your Ears Out is taking a collaborative approach to building it's service and brand. Co-Founder Andrew Grimshaw said:

"We are experienced digital entrepreneurs and we firmly believe in the evolution of our product with our customers input, it's what the web is all about. We have put the foundations in place but we now need feedback, involvement of real gig goers and music lovers. Bands & Promoters not involved with our existing ticketing providers can add their own gigs now too."

Grimshaw added...

"A robust and entertaining gig search service for both web and mobile is something we feel hasn't been delivered yet. Live music fans deserve a one stop site that lists every gig in the UK no matter who has promoted, who runs the ticketing or where the venue is located. Fans pay enough to attend gigs these days and we believe their experience can be improved pre-gig and should not end as they leave the venue, there is more to enjoy post-gig as well - gig goers can review, rate, rant, share and communicate too."

The self-funded Company have enjoyed the support of many credible artists with bands interviewed including Florence and the Machine, Pete Doherty, Calvin Harris, Jack Penate, White Lies and Jamie T to name just a few.

"We are sure the many bands & artists we have spoken with so far support Get Your Ears Out as they see it's authentic, we are not fake - we genuinely love live music and want to use technology to improve the experience for everyone in the community."

Technical Brains and Co-Partner Kevin Jones explained:

"We have basic functionality in place having integrated data feeds from See Tickets, Ticketmaster, TicketWeb, Ticketline, Crowd Surge, We Got Tickets & Gigantic. There are literally thousands of gigs at one time to check out but the next stage is even more interesting as we will target smaller gigs that are not catered for by the major ticketing providers. Some of this data will be generated dynamically and some will be user-generated. The outcome is a unique dynamic live music database that can be moulded by the people that actually do live music."

Andrew Grimshaw concluded:

"The opportunities are endless, we have analysed search engine traffic and social networks in this area for some time now and we will build a significant live music database - it's just a matter of time...and when that is in place we can look to do some really cool things in the music industry that benefit the paying fans and artists."

The Company are now in dialogue with several prospective investors despite turning down initial seed capital offers they acknowledge the technical roadmap and business plan mean cash investment will accelerate the business. Interestingly they don't want investment at all costs and claim it has to be the right investor, preferably from those involved in music rather than pure finance.
