UL Warns of Potentially Hazardous Decorative Lighting Strings

NORTHBROOK, IL--(Marketwire - December 21, 2007) - Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is notifying consumers and retailers that decorative lighting strings manufactured by Weinace Decorative Co. Ltd. may pose a shock or fire hazard.

Date of Manufacture: April 2007 to present

Manufacturer: Weinace Decorative Co. Ltd.

Hazard: The decorative light strings are not constructed in compliance with UL's safety standard. These products may overheat, creating a potential risk of electric shock and fire to users.

On the product:

The cord is green in color with an attachment plug at both ends. The end of the decorative light string includes a tag with the following information:

The cord also has a UL holographic label with the following information:

On the packaging:

The packaging is marked with the UL Mark for the United States and Canada and provides the following information:

What you should do: UL recommends that users stop using the product immediately and return the decorative light strings to the place of purchase.
