UNYK.Com Address Book Launches Public Profiles, and Lets Users be Visible on Search Engines - on their Own Terms

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Aug. 1, 2008) - Ever since its launch in 2005, the "smart" online address book UNYK.com, has had the objective of letting its users take control of their own information contained in their contacts' address books. Today, Montreal-based UNYK goes even further into the management of the digital identity of its 9 million users by opening their profiles to be indexed by search engines (Google, Yahoo!...), and allowing users to determine what information they want visible on their public profiles.

Basically, the public profile can contain all the information included in the user's UNYK profile (education, professional experience, hobbies...), except for contact information, which is always reserved to authorized contacts. Each user is given a unique URL in the format: http://www.unyk.com/id/firstname-lastname, which is easy to communicate to others.

Also, when a person accesses a user's public profile, either through search results or through a signature on a blog, they can send a connection request to that user, to be able to make contact with them.
