U.S. Army Aviation Warfighting Center to Replace Panel Trainers with NGRAIN Training Aids

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - May 31, 2006) -

Interactive 3D knowledge objects of the auxiliary power unit on the Chinook helicopter will help improve knowledge retention and shorten training time

NGRAIN, provider of interactive 3D training solutions, today announced that the U.S. Army Aviation Warfighting Center in Fort Rucker, Alabama has selected NGRAIN to provide an interactive 3D training aid for the auxiliary power unit (APU) on the CH-47D Chinook helicopter. Incorporating interactive 3D knowledge objects into their course will allow the Center to accelerate learning and increase student throughput.

The course teaches students how to describe components, operational characteristics, functions, restrictions and limitations of the CH-47D APU. Currently, large and bulky panel trainers are employed to demonstrate functions of a system. Due to their large size, the panel trainers remain fixed in one classroom. This limitation causes scheduling difficulties and training delays for the school. The NGRAIN training aid is intended to replace these panel trainers and provide students with virtual hands-on practice of operational and maintenance procedures.

"With NGRAIN, our instructors have a lot more flexibility in how and where they conduct training. Students are also able to access their training materials anytime, anywhere, which helps them to grasp concepts quicker and retain information better. This type of innovative training will be a great benefit throughout U.S. Army Aviation," said Danny Flowers, Project Manger, Digital Training Access Center, at the U.S. Army Aviation Warfighting Center.

The NGRAIN solution facilitates first-time-right performance, allowing the U.S. Army to achieve operational readiness at a lower cost.

"It's certainly exciting to see the U.S. Army Aviation Warfighting Center complement their existing course material with interactive 3D knowledge objects. The Center's forward thinking will equip the students with confidence when applying their knowledge from the classroom to the field," said Joseph Bailey, Vice President, Sales at NGRAIN.
