Ultimate Day-Long Advanced Technology Summit to be Held on June 25th in the District of Maple Ridge

Summit to Feature Keynote and Panel Presentations Revealing Best Practices for Development of an Advanced Technology Sector within a Community Framework and Includes Industry Leaders from BCTIA, TELUS and Cisco, Federal, Provincial and Municipal Government officials

MAPLE RIDGE, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - June 15, 2009) - On Thursday, June 25, 2009, the District of Maple Ridge hosts its inaugural Advanced Technology Summit. Designed specifically for business, academic, community and government leaders and decision-makers, this one day event will provide delegates with an opportunity to learn from and network with a powerful roster of leading edge industry professionals.

A keynote on "Connecting Communities-A Technology Overview" will be presented by TELUS Chief Technology Officer Irabim Gedeon. Other presenters include BCTIA President and CEO Pascal Spothelfer, Cisco's Director of Systems Engineering Ralph Wright, Social Media Expert Rochelle Grayson, District of Maple Ridge Mayor Ernie Daykin, Chief Administrative Officer Jim Rule among others.

Advanced technology topics to be covered include:

- Current realities in the industry and the need for a creative community culture;

- Future directions within the sector from the BC perspective;

- Role of academic institutions in shaping advanced technology communities;

- Role of infrastructure and capital investment including broadband and ITCs as the fourth utility of the 21st Century sustainable urban infrastructures;

- Outsourcing community capacity including partnership strategies, access to resources and successful models;

- Panel discussion about the role of government and government agencies; and

- Visions for a connected and sustainable urban future.

The Maple Ridge Advanced Technology Summit is guaranteed to illuminate both the current and future realities of the industry. The Summit runs from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will be held at The ACT, 11944 Haney Place in Maple Ridge. Cost per attendee is $195 plus GST and includes all sessions, panel presentations, breakfast, lunch and refreshment breaks.
