Unified Pictures Adds "55 Holly Star" to Production Slate

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - November 15, 2007) - Unified Pictures is set to produce the feature comedy "55 Holly Star," according to Unified founder Keith Kjarval. Michael A. Nickles ("This Is Not a Film," "Do You Wanna Dance?") penned the script and will direct. In the vein of a modern day Capra tale, "55 Holly Star" follows a down-on-his-luck young man on a desperate quest to decipher the dying words of his grandfather, an obsession which turns his life upside-down in surprising ways. Production is scheduled to begin next year. Kjarval will produce.

"'55 Holly Star' is a story that has excited us for some time with its unique and fresh slant on a familiar romantic theme," added Kjarval. "We could not be any more excited to collaborate with Michael on this charming comedy."

Also upcoming for Unified Pictures is the CG-animated feature "Noah's Ark" to be penned by Philip LaZebnik (co-writer of "The Prince of Egypt," "Mulan," and "Pocahontas") and "Beneath the Shadows." "Shadows" is set to go into production the first of the year. Anton Pardoe scripted the psychological thriller. Kjarval produces.

Unified completed principal photography this fall on "Bob Funk," a romantic comedy starring Rachael Leigh Cook ("Nancy Drew," "She's All That"), Michael Leydon Campbell ("Sidewalks of New York"), Stephen Root and Grace Zabriskie. Craig Carlisle ("Joe Fearless") wrote and directed. The film was produced by Kjarval and executive produced by Ben Ruffman.

Post-production is being completed on "The Perfect Sleep," a revenge action/drama starring Roselyn Sanchez ("Rush Hour 2," "The Game Plan") and Anton Pardoe, with Pardoe scripting. Jeremy Alter ("Inland Empire") produced and directed. Martin Hunter ("Full Metal Jacket," "The Shining") edited. Kjarval acquired, developed and produced the stylized noir feature with Alter and Pardoe.

Also completing post-production is the psychological thriller "XII," starring Mercedes McNab ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer") and Nick Searcy ("Runaway Jury," "The Assassination of Richard Nixon"). Michael A. Nickles along with Kjarval, Kurt Rauer and Tim Montijo developed. Ruffman was executive producer.
