Unite Angered by Proposed Closure of Bristol Print Company

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Jan. 14, 2008) - Unite, the UK's largest union, is dismayed by Wiltshire's of Bristol who have announced its' potential closure with a possible loss of skilled 164 jobs.

On the back of other recent announcements the union is very dismayed to learn that Wiltshire's, owned by Guardian Media Group and part of the Trader Media Group, is potentially going to close. The company employs 164 people; 130 of which are Unite members.

The vast majority are skilled and highly skilled employees and enjoy good terms and conditions of employment, which have been negotiated by Unite over the years.

Steve Sibbald, National Officer for Unite, said:

"The company have announced a 90 day consultation period which we hope will be a real and meaningful consultation as we of course want the company to stay open but it appears we have been presented with a fait accompli. We will do all we can to retain well paid jobs in that area."
