Unite reaction to Resolution rejection of Pearl bid

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Oct. 11, 2007) -

Graham Goddard, Unite Deputy General Secretary and Head of the Finance Sector says:

"Unite the union is seeking information from both Resolution and Friends Provident about the impact that any merger would have on employees. Following the rejection of the bid from Pearl our members need clarity and transparency in order to minimise uncertainty about their future.

"Unite will continue to meet with senior management of both companies in order to press them on their proposals for the future of Resolution. The union maintains that long-term job security, as well as shareholder value, must be a factor when considering a bid. Unite will be watching all changes closely and pressing for assurances from any potential bidder."
