Unite reaction to Resolution's acceptance of Standard Life's merger offer

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Oct. 26, 2007) - Unite Deputy General Secretary, Graham Goddard says,
"Resolution's acceptance of Standard Life's offer is bound to cause extreme concern for staff at both companies. The union will be holding a crisis meeting in London on Monday to discuss how best to protect its members' interests.

Unite is recognised at Resolution and will take every step possible to defend its members from Standard Life's hostile anti- union stance. The union is being forced to apply for recognition at Standard Life using the legal route in order to represent our members at the company.

The union believes that Standard Life's recent handling of changes to its own employee's pension scheme was poor and does not bode well for the future. This deal means that staff at Standard Life need to be supported and represented by an independent trade union more than ever. "
