United Reaches Out to New Customer Base in Tough Economic Times

ST. LOUIS, MO--(Marketwire - April 21, 2010) -  With fewer people moving in the current economic climate, United has launched a new strategy to attract new customers and earn a bigger piece of the moving public's business.

The United brand now offers a move to fit every customer's need, regardless of budget. With its new moving and storage container service, United can now provide a full spectrum of moving solutions from full-service to do-it-yourself. With these innovative, new moving services, United customers can choose to move with as much or as little help as they need, all with one phone call.

In 2010 United began offering portable moving and storage containers. Customers can choose to have containers delivered to their homes, pack and load the containers at their own pace and then arrange for a pickup and delivery date that works well for them.

"Our customers have told us that their needs are changing. They need more flexibility and options when preparing for a life-changing event like a move," said CEO Rich McClure. "It has always been important for us to provide the services that customers are asking for, but in these difficult times it is even more important to meet the needs of our current customers and reach out to customers who have never moved with United."

For customers who would like to use moving and storage containers but need a little extra help with the heavy-lifting or packing, United has introduced its "Do-it-Yourself Plus" service. United moving professionals are experienced in packing and loading household goods. They will provide help with packing or loading based on individual customers' needs and budget.

These services are in addition to United's traditional full-service offering. Now with its larger spectrum of services available to customers, United is well positioned to continue as America's #1 Mover®

To raise awareness about the new, full-spectrum of services, United launched a nationwide television ad campaign beginning April 19. United has also updated its logo to reflect its updated brand positioning and new services. A new eagle symbol now appears as part of the United logo to represent the company's leadership and professionalism.
