Update: ECO2 Forests Plants 8,000 Kiri Trees in Honor of UN Conference on Climate Change to Absorb Over 20,000 Tons of Carbon Dioxide Equal to Emissions From up to 1,000 Large Cars

SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwire - December 23, 2009) - ECO2 Forests Inc. (PINKSHEETS: ECOF), an international sustainable forestry company focused on reforestation and carbon sequestration projects, today announced the Company has planted 8,000 Kiri Trees in honor of the UN Conference on Climate Change in Copenhagen.

The 8,000 Kiri Tree Project is projected to absorb over 20,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere generating 20,000 saleable carbon credits. This is equivalent to absorbing the carbon dioxide emissions from up to 1,000 large cars. Cities and states planting Kiri Trees now could remove up to two and a half tons of carbon dioxide per tree every seven years.

The Company's proprietary Kiri Tree is a fast growing, high CO2 absorbing tree ready for mature harvest in seven years. Post harvest, the Kiri Tree regenerates from the stump, continues to sequester more CO2, stabilizes and enriches the soil, and negates the need for replanting.

"Our Kiri Trees are a remarkable commodity. What most people don't understand is just how much impact Kiri Trees, and more specifically reforestation projects, provide for the overall air quality.

"Through our Global Forestry Plan, in one project commencing in 2010, we expect to plant approximately 3.3 million Kiri Trees over approximately 7 years. This new forest may absorb the carbon dioxide equal to the emissions from 412,500 cars for one year.

"Our recently announced 20,000 acre Vanuatu reforestation project, planned to commence planting in early 2010, is estimated to produce 600 million board feet of sustainable rough sawn Kiri Tree lumber, delivering a per acre revenue estimate of $112,520 in each 7-year harvest cycle. We plan to lead the charge, setting the example for others to follow," states Collie Christensen, CEO, ECO2 Forests.
