SAN FRANCISCO, CA and PORTLAND, OR--(Marketwire - Jun 20, 2012) - Urban Airship, the leading platform provider for high-performance push messaging, and Roar Engine, a cross-platform game mechanics and virtual goods management engine, today announced a strategic partnership and product integration that offers everything game developers need to rapidly deploy mobile games with complete and scalable audience engagement and monetization capabilities. Roar Engine has selected Urban Airship as its push messaging provider and integrated its platform to close-the-loop between frontend and backend logic, enabling server-side game events to trigger push messages directly to gamers.
Roar Engine offers game developers easy to use and highly configurable game building blocks that manage player state, game logic, virtual goods and social mechanics. Mobile game clients access these features via Roar's Unity3D client APIs. With push notifications powered by Urban Airship, developers using Roar Engine can deliver messages to users' home screens to drive app opens and other re-engagement activities, or utilize Rich Push® to deliver multimedia content including surveys to persistent in-app inboxes.
As an example, developers can use Roar Engine's leaderboards and social integrations to set up a complex player matching and challenge mechanic that triggers Urban Airship push messages to engage the challenged player.
"Many of the gaming apps we power have found push notifications to be essential in driving both user engagement and retention, as well as their own monetization strategies," said Dylan Boyd, VP of Growth, Urban Airship. "With this partnership, game developers have a complete solution that handles all of the other backend services critical to commercial success, allowing them to focus on creating new and fun experiences."
Roar Engine includes a single drop-in file that provides a Unity3D API to access Roar and Urban Airship's services, as well as some styleable UI components for shops, inventory and actions, eliminating the need for server-side programming and client-server integrations.
"Now every game developer can have the power of a fully integrated player engagement machine behind their games without any backend knowledge or any effort to manage multiple APIs from disparate services," said Clint Walker, CEO, Roar Engine. "We've closed the loop on all of the awesome services that help drive your game to the top of the revenue charts."
