Demand Media Is on a Quest to Find Leading Next-Generation New Media Companies and Has Partnered With to Accomplish This Task

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - November 8, 2007) -, the social media site for entrepreneurs and innovators, announces the Demand Media/ Challenge -- to find the best new media companies with niche audiences, fast-growing user bases that include a community of dedicated users, and a cool idea with legs. The competition is simple, quick and free to join. Open to all Web content entrepreneurs from sports to entertainment, cooking to do-it-yourself (DIY) and everything in between. If you have a great and loyal audience of content hungry media consumers, you're the perfect candidate.

Be sure to include a business plan, some basic metrics (i.e. revenues, visitors and pageviews) and your vision for the future. Vator competitions are based on the "wisdom of the crowds" approach where Vator watchers rate the entries and help select the final entries for our judges. Final judging will be done by experienced Web veterans, such as; Demand Media's Richard Rosenblatt, Shawn Colo, Caith Chapman, Vator co-founder and CEO Bambi Francisco, VentureBeat's Matt Marshall, Beet.TV's Andy Plesser, Mashable's Pete Cashmore, Blake Cahill from Visible Technologies, and Mark Taylor, SVP Emerging Opportunities at Level3.

At the end of January, the top 25 companies will be selected based on the number of votes, views, highest ratings and most positive comments. At the end of February, the top five will be chosen based on the same criteria and the judges will then select the winner out of the final five.
