Vena Intersects Several High-Grade Polymetallic Veins at Esquilache

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 17, 2010) - Vena Resources Inc. (TSX:VEM)(LIMA:VEM)(FRANKFURT:V1R)(OTCBB:VNARF) is pleased to announce the initial results of the first surface drill program ever performed on the Esquilache project where 13 diamond drill holes have been completed for a total of 2,550 metres to test multiple targets at Cerro Mamacocha. To date, approximately 70% of the assays from the 973 core samples have been received and it is anticipated that the remaining assays will be available by the end of February and a comprehensive release will be made soon thereafter. All drill intercepts shown in the table below are down-hole lengths and not true widths.

The historical Esquilache silver mine has been a centre for mining activities since pre-Inca times. Mineralization occurs in stockworks and rosary-type veins exposed on two hills named Cerro Creston and Cerro Mamacocha within a large Miocene caldera. At Mamacocha, mesothermal quartz veins and stockworks host polymetallic mineralization consisting of high grade silver with associated copper, lead and zinc that are partially overprinted by a later epithermal gold event. Vena has first tested Cerro Mamacocha where mining activities have been relatively restricted. A follow up drill program will concentrate on expanding on the favorable results at Mamacocha and an initial test of Cerro Creston where high grade silver mine workings extend to a depth in excess of 450 meters.

Drill holes 6, 4 and 4-A have shown the most significant mineralization so far. DDH 6 tested the extension of the Santa Cruz and Juan veins beneath the high-grade underground workings previously reported and shown again below.

DDH 6 intersected two unmapped veins to the east (hanging wall) of the Santa Cruz vein. The first of these veins (47.1 – 47.6 metres) assayed 2,970 gpt Ag and 7.87 gpt Au over 0.5 meters and is indicative of the high precious metal grades that can be expected at Esquilache.

DDH 4 intersected 7.38 meters (70.60 – 77.98 metres) of 1.72 gpt Au in the southwestern extension of the Aydee/Ivett structure at the limit of outcrop where it will have to be traced further to the southwest by drilling beneath overburden.

DDH 4-A intersected the Elvira vein across a drill width of 6.87 meters (66.16 – 74.13 metres) and the upper 2.74 meters (66.16 – 68.90 metres) assayed 320.98 gpt Ag and 0.95 gpt Au.

DDH 11 intersected four non-outcropping structures that contain significant polymetallic values, especially in lead, that encourage the Company to believe that it has discovered a new area to the south of the old workings that merits further drilling.

This press release has been reviewed and approved by David Bent, P. Geo., Vena's Vice President of Exploration and Qualified Person as defined by NI 43-101. Vena's exploration and development programs are being supervised by Mr. Bent. All core samples will be prepared and analyzed by Inspectorate Services Peru SAC, an ISO certified laboratory in Lima, Peru. The program is designed to include a comprehensive analytical quality control routine comprising the systematic use of standards, blanks and field duplicate samples. A secondary laboratory will be used for check assaying.
