Verengo Solar Plus Featured in Orange County Business Journal's 100 Fastest Growing Private Companies List

Residential Solar Installation Company Ranks #13 With Nearly 300% Growth Increase in Last Two Years

ORANGE, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 6, 2011) - Verengo Solar Plus today announced that it has been named to Orange County Business Journal's List of Top 100 Fastest Growing Private Companies. Verengo had $36.2 million in sales for the 12 months through June 2011, a 298% jump from a similar period in 2008-2009, and ranked #13 among Orange County's fastest growing companies.

Verengo now installs about 200 systems a month for homeowners, from affluent environmentalists to older folks on fixed incomes, which is up from 80 systems a month at the beginning of the year.

"We've started to move beyond early adopters and the green crowd," President and Co-founder Ken Button told the OCBJ in a feature story this week, adding that most new installations are for middle-income homeowners looking to save money.

"We are extremely proud of our growth as it indicates we are doing an excellent job for our customers and setting the right course for the future," said CEO and Co-Founder Randy Bishop, who attended the 2011 OCBJ Honorees Luncheon in Irvine last week. "It is quite a tribute to be recognized in the Top 100 Fastest Growing Private Companies. We are thrilled that we are growing the company, creating jobs, and providing a service that saves our customers money while making the planet a better place."

Verengo has added jobs steadily since it started in 2008 and now has more than 600 team members companywide, with over 350 new hires this year, spread over new markets in Northern California, the Central Valley and New Jersey. 2011 will be Verengo's first and last year on the OCBJ list as it is moving its executive headquarters to Torrance, CA on November 1st.

"We just ran out of desks and places to put chairs," Button told the OCBJ about the move, adding that most of the jobs they have created locally will remain in the county with roofers, construction workers and electricians operating out of the City of Orange service and maintenance facility. "The good news about the residential solar industry is that the jobs we create can't be shipped off shore," Button pointed out.
