Vertigo Partners With NBC Sports to Extend Online Sports Coverage

Vertigo Delivers Live and On Demand HD Video Player for the US Open and Wimbledon

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - June 22, 2010) -  Vertigo today announced its growing partnership with NBC Sports to deliver live and on demand HD video online for the just concluded US Open and 2010 Wimbledon. Vertigo is delivering these events via a Microsoft Silverlight-based online video player experience in true HD (720p) using adaptive streaming from Microsoft's Internet Information Server (IIS) Smooth Streaming Technology. "NBC is excited to continue its partnership with Vertigo to deliver the highest quality sports programming available online for a series of marquee events in 2010," said Rick Cordella, Vice President and General Manager of NBC Sports Digital. "Our collaboration with Vertigo ensures that we are providing a compelling and engaging experience to sports fans around the world."

Building on the success of the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games, NBC Universal expanded its efforts to attract and engage golf and tennis fans with an online, interactive program that complements its live broadcast. Once again, NBC partnered with Vertigo to design unique experiences that let the audience watch these events in high definition on the Web while enjoying access to intuitive DVR controls, multiple camera angles and a full screen mode, along with in-stream advertising integration.

Vertigo is focused on delivering the ultimate fan experience for NBC Universal. For Wimbledon, the player experience will be expanded to include a video on demand content explorer, real-time schedules and sharing functionality with popular social media platforms.
