Via Salzburg: Toronto's Premier Chamber Music Series Presents "Exotic Sounds"

Via Salzburg Chamber Orchestra Featuring George Gao, Erhu Glenn Gould Studio 250 Front Street West, Toronto

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 8, 2007) - Astonishing things can happen when two great musical traditions come together. On Thursday, January 11, and Friday, January 12, at our Exotic Sounds concert at 8pm at the Glenn Gould Studio, George Gao, master of traditional Chinese stringed instrument, the erhu, will perform with the Via Salzburg Chamber Orchestra. Gao's compositions are hauntingly exotic and foreign. The Via Salzburg Chamber Orchestra will add to the evening's riches with the shifting moods of Canadian composer Jose Evangelista's "Air d'Espagne", and one of the most important compositions of the 20th Century, Schoenberg's "Verklaerte Nacht".
