Virtium Launches DDR3 Blade Memory Modules for Embedded Computing; Includes Very Low Profile Memory Modules (VLP Memory) and Ultra Low Profile Memory Modules (ULP Memory)

Enhanced JEDEC Standard Form Factors Available: DDR3 VLP RDIMM, ULP RDIMM, VLP UDIMM, ULP UDIMM and VLP Mini-RDIMM

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - October 16, 2007) - AdvancedTCA Summit Booth #201 -- Virtium Technology Inc., manufacturer of memory modules for specialized computers in demanding environments, today announced its DDR3 Very Low Profile (VLP) and DDR3 Ultra Low Profile (ULP) blade memory modules for embedded computing applications. Both types of memory modules are designed with significant enhancements to the JEDEC standard, including reduced module height and densities up to 2GB and future expansion to 4GB.

Virtium has expanded its DDR3 VLP memory modules offering by adding DDR3 ULP RDIMM, ULP UDIMM and ULP Mini-RDIMM form factors to its current line of DDR3 VLP SODIMM, VLP SO-RDIMM and VLP SO-CDIMM. Virtium has enhanced the JEDEC VLP memory module standard by offering VLP RDIMMs at densities up to 2GB and future expansion to 4GB. Virtium's new ULP memory module series offers DIMM heights of 0.70 inches, enhanced from the JEDEC standard of 0.72 inches. All Virtium VLP and ULP memory modules are available using monolithic DRAM that have an extended temperature range which makes them ideal for rugged AdvancedTCA memory (ATCA memory), AdvancedMC memory, MicroTCA memory, PicoTCA memory and AMC memory for blade applications, Storage Bridge Bay (SBB) canisters and PICMG SBCs.

"Our enhanced standard VLP and ULP memory modules increase the competitive edge for today's embedded systems," said Phan Hoang, director of research and development, Virtium Technology Inc. "Lower height and higher density memory using monolithic DRAM is a major advantage when designing for rugged embedded applications."
