Vision Solutions' Chief Scientist to Speak at Interaction 2007 -- The IBM(R) Users Conference & Expo in Melbourne, Australia

Speech Will Focus on Exploiting Clustering, IASPs and High Availability for Business Advantages

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - October 16, 2007) - Vision Solutions™, the leading high availability (HA) solution provider in the IBM System i and System p markets, is proud to announce its Chief Scientist, Dave Brown, will be presenting at IBM's Interaction 2007 exposition in Melbourne, Australia. One of IBM's most extensive and relevant events for technical professionals and managers using IBM technology, the Expo spans three full days commencing October 22, 2007.

On behalf of Vision Solutions, Dave Brown will explain how businesses can benefit from being able to switch disk resources between systems while still maintaining remote replicated copies of their information for reporting, backups and Disaster Recovery. The Oct. 23 afternoon session will compare and position Switched and Mirrored Independent Auxiliary Storage Pools (IASPs) using the System i vs. Logical Replication of data and System i Objects to backup i5/OS nodes in a cluster.

"During the presentation, I will illustrate System i Clustering implementations and share my experience of moving sites to 100% uptime," says Mr. Brown. "Through experience and example, I'll provide insights about the requirements and procedures for combining the advantages of these two important high availability technologies into a single solution."

Dave Brown is Chief Scientist for Vision Solutions. He has 30 years of experience developing and designing software applications for the midrange market and was a principle architect of the ILE/C based award-winning Vision software suite first announced in 1996.

Prior to joining Vision Solutions, Dave worked as a consultant designing software solutions. He has written and implemented nutritional optimization software for feed mills using Linear Programming techniques. He initially worked for Vision as a consultant and later became Director of Research and, most recently, Chief Scientist. Born in Modesto, California, Dave received a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Science from California State Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo and an MBA from Stanford University specializing in operations research in 1968.

While in Melbourne, Mr. Brown will also discuss the future of high availability, both as a technology and as an industry, including why the HA industry is set to expand significantly within the region.

"This region is one of Vision's fastest growing geographies," states Vision Solutions' Vice President of Sales for Asia Pacific, Mr. Allan Campbell. "Although Vision Solutions globally services more than 80 percent of the current IBM System i high availability market, the need for high availability amongst this base has never been stronger. The continuing growth of our in-region support capability demonstrates our commitment to current and future customers throughout this dynamic area of the world."
