VisionTV and Recreating Eden to Launch Second Community Garden Sponsorship Initiative

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 24, 2008) - VisionTV and Merit Motion Pictures, producers of the Gemini Award-winning spiritual gardening series Recreating Eden, will collaborate for the second time on a program designed to help public and community gardens across Canada.

The Recreating Eden Community Garden Initiative, launched in 2007, provides sponsorship support to local gardens in Canadian cities.

Last year's initiative attracted submissions from community organizations all over the country. Each of the three 2007 winners received $1,000 to assist with the development of their garden project.

The three gardens were: the Julien Project in Guelph, Ontario; the Garden of Lite project in Winnipeg, Manitoba; and the Foodshare community garden in Toronto, Ont.

Said Sharon Stewart, spokesperson for the Julien Project: "Recreating Eden has provided an opportunity to develop a barrier-free garden for adults and children, and to create a sensory garden for visitors with sensory impairments. From May to November last year, we successfully engaged 466 community participants."

Organizations interested in taking part in the Community Garden Initiative must submit a 500-word essay explaining how the sponsorship dollars will help their garden make a contribution to the community.

The deadline for entries is March 3, 2008. To learn more about the initiative, please visit www.recreatingeden.com.
