Voter Information Cards Are in the Mail

Registered electors should receive the cards by Wednesday, October 21, 2009

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 15, 2009) -

- Elections Canada is mailing over 300,000 personalized voter information cards to electors in Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley (Nova Scotia), Hochelaga (Quebec), Montmagny-L'Islet-Kamouraska-Riviere-du-Loup (Quebec) and New Westminster-Coquitlam (British Columbia) who are on the the lists of electors.

- An elector who does not receive his or her voter information card by Wednesday, October 21, or who receives a card with incorrect information, for a deceased person or for someone unknown at that address, should contact his or her local Elections Canada office by 6:00 p.m. (local time) on Tuesday, November 3.

"The voter information card provides electors with the address and hours of their polling station and how to contact Elections Canada," says Chief Electoral Officer Marc Mayrand. "Electors need to remember that the card provides information and is not an identification document."
