WABCO Supplies Dakar 2010 Truck Winner With High Performance Braking Technology

(NYSE: WBC) [], a global technology leader and tier-one supplier to the commercial vehicle industry, today announced that WABCO continues to supply its most advanced, high performance braking technology to KAMAZ-Master, the Russian national off-road truck rally team and winner of Dakar 2010, the world's most challenging endurance rally.

KAMAZ-Master trucks finished in first, second and fifth place at Dakar 2010, marking an unprecedented ninth time that KAMAZ-Master is the winner of the Dakar competition. WABCO has been supplying KAMAZ-Master for more than 10 years and for Dakar 2010 the company equipped KAMAZ-Master heavy duty trucks with WABCO high performance air compressors, multiple WABCO high performance valves for the braking and tire inflation systems, and WABCO Tristop® Cylinders, one of the most reliable piston-type spring brake cylinders on the market.

Starting and finishing in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the two-week route of Dakar 2010 covered more than 9,000 kilometers (5,600 miles) in 14 stages throughout Argentina and Chile, crossing the Andes Mountains twice and navigating the dunes in the Atacama Desert. It was the Dakar rally's second year in a row in Argentina and Chile.
