WABCO's OptiDrive System, a Breakthrough in Transmission Automation Technology, Wins 2010 Automotive News PACE Award

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM--(Marketwire - April 14, 2010) - WABCO Holdings Inc. (NYSE: WBC) [www.wabco-auto.com], a global technology leader and tier-one supplier to the commercial vehicle industry, today announced that WABCO's new OptiDrive™ system, a breakthrough in transmission automation technology, has won the 2010 Automotive News PACE™ Award, the automotive industry's benchmark for innovation.

WABCO's OptiDrive system, a modular automated manual transmission system for medium and heavy duty commercial vehicles, continues the company's 20-year track record of technology leadership in transmission automation. Its high degree of modularity significantly reduces the development time required for application to transmission and vehicle platforms, enabling faster time to market for manufacturers of trucks, buses and transmissions.

By optimizing gear shifting, WABCO's OptiDrive system improves vehicle control and safety while enhancing the driver's effectiveness. It also significantly contributes to decreased fuel consumption and reduced maintenance cost for the vehicle's powertrain while increasing vehicle efficiency and environmental protection.

Jointly presented by Automotive News, the Transportation Research Center and Ernst & Young, the Automotive News PACE Awards recognize premiere automotive suppliers' contribution to excellence as it relates to the manufacture and sales of cars or commercial vehicles.

"Everyone at WABCO is proud of the superlative recognition that our industry has awarded to our OptiDrive system, one of the most creatively engineered products in our portfolio," said Jacques Esculier, WABCO Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "The Automotive News PACE Award powerfully acclaims game-changing innovations that offer outstanding benefits and competitive advantages in our industry's commerce. Our OptiDrive system is another industry breakthrough that marks WABCO's passion for innovation as we strive to grow demand for automated manual transmissions worldwide, particularly in emerging markets where adoption of such systems is expected to expand rapidly."
