WHW Architects Signs on for 100 Per Cent Clean, Green Electricity With Bullfrog Power ™

Organization committed to creating sustainable environments further greens its own offices

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwire - Feb. 23, 2010) - Bullfrog Power, Canada's 100 per cent green electricity provider, today announced that WHW Architects, an architectural firm based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is now bullfrogpowered™ with clean, emissions-free electricity. Playing a major role in helping its clients achieve sustainable building projects and use renewable energy sources where possible, WHW choose green electricity as a way of supporting sustainability within its own organization. By signing on for green electricity with Bullfrog, WHW reduces its electricity-related carbon dioxide emissions footprint and demonstrates support for the development of new renewable generation in Canada.

"Clean, renewable energy is where we all need to go and this helps the Maritimes get there a little more quickly" said John Crace, Chairman, WHW Architects. "WHW believes this region of the country can, and will be a leader in renewable energy. Signing on for green electricity with Bullfrog Power helps us reduce our environmental impact and send a powerful message about our support for a cleaner energy future for the Maritimes."

Through the agreement, Bullfrog's Maritimes generators inject renewable electricity onto the regional grid to match the about of power WHW's office uses. Across Canada, Bullfrog's electricity comes exclusively from wind and hydro facilities that have been certified as low impact by Environment Canada under its EcoLogo(M) program instead of from polluting sources like coal, oil, natural gas, and nuclear. In the Maritime Provinces, Bullfrog sources from wind farms and low-impact hydro facilities in Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. Bullfrog's goal is to advance the development of wind power throughout the Maritimes.

"We're thrilled to welcome WHW Architects to the growing bullfrogpowered community in the Maritimes and congratulate the organization for becoming one of the first organizations in Nova Scotia to sign on for green electricity," said Holly Bond, Director, Eastern Region, Bullfrog Power. "WHW is an organization that is truly walking the talk when it comes to sustainability, demonstrating environmental leadership both within its building projects and its own facilities."

In addition to bullfrogpowering its offices, WHW has implemented a comprehensive recycling program, recycling all kitchen waste, paper, and equipment no longer in use. Encouraging employees to use alternate means of transportation to work, WHW provides staff with monthly transit passes, bicycle parking areas and showers. The organization uses LED lighting, motion sensors and flexible switching options to reduce its electricity use, and chooses low-VOC paint to further reduce its impact on the environment. Twenty-four of its 60+ employees are LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professionals.

Bullfrog Power launched in the Maritimes in the fall of 2009 and provides all homes and businesses in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island a 100 per cent clean, renewable electricity choice. No special wiring or equipment is required to become bullfrogpowered.
