WebTech Wireless' NextBus™ Solution Will Shorten Wait Times for TTC Passengers

Toronto Mayor David Miller launches NextBus system allowing TTC riders to check the arrival time of their 'Next Vehicle' online or at the stop

TORONTO, ONTARIO and VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - April 29, 2010) - WebTech Wireless Inc. (TSX:WEW), a leading provider of vehicle fleet location-based services (LBS) and telematics technology, announced today that the Mayor of Toronto, His Worship David Miller, and the Chair of the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), Adam Giambrone, launched WebTech Wireless' NextBus technology on eight streetcar lines at an event held at the Broadview transit station this morning. The TTC version of NextBus, known as the "Next Vehicle System", allows transit riders to monitor the predicted arrival times of the next three transit vehicles using any online web browser or at transit stops outfitted with digital displays.

"Imagine never having to ask when the next streetcar is coming," said Scott Edmonds, President and Chief Executive Officer of WebTech Wireless. "NextBus helps riders determine when to leave their home or office in time to catch that streetcar or bus – because we provide actual arrival times, not schedules. This is especially valuable for TTC customers facing inclement weather or waiting alone at night."

As announced by the Toronto Transit Commission's Chair, Adam Giambrone, the City of Toronto is equipping 52 streetcar shelters with NextBus digital displays this year, and by July, all 800 streetcar stops citywide will offer real-time predictive arrival information via SMS text messaging and on the internet.

The City of Toronto joins more than 61 jurisdictions, including transit systems such as San Francisco Muni and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, which provide passengers the convenience of real-time information using NextBus.
