Wedge Networks Announces Beta Release of New Operating System at RSA

Leader in Web Security Unveils Next Generation Deep Content Inspection Platform

SAN FRANCISO, CALIFORNIA--(Marketwire - March 3, 2010) - Wedge Networks Inc. (Wedge), a leader in high performance network-based web security solutions, announced the beta release of its Deep Content Inspection (DCI) platform WedgeOS 4.0 today at the RSA Conference. The WedgeOS 4.0 is the next generation of the original award winning NDPOS, which delivered the highest DCI performance with uncompromised inspection accuracy.

Wedge Networks is again leading the industry by delivering a high performance platform for applying multiple security and compliance functions to all the current and future application layer protocols. WedgeOS 4.0 provides a rich set of network integration and management functions that allows DCI based security appliances to be easily plugged into existing enterprise and service provider networks, physical or virtual, within minutes.

"Continuously evolving security requirements, which are fueled by change and innovation in networked applications, malicious attacks and compliance demands, can no longer be addressed by point solutions" said Dr. Hongwen Zhang, President and CEO of Wedge Networks.

"With a deep understanding of enterprises and service providers' security and compliance needs, Wedge Networks invested in the research and development of an architectural framework that introduces integrated content security/compliance functions to help our customers combat network content borne attacks and compliance requirements. The WedgeOS 4.0 demonstrates our vision and commitment of a clean Internet, regardless of what application protocols are used."

Key features of the new operating system include:

  • Enhanced multi-CPU/multi-core support with real-time scheduling to delivery high performance and robustness for deep content inspection functions;
  • Optimized transmission and receiving mechanisms provide 10 gbits DCI throughput;
  • Lower total cost of ownership (TCO) due to stealth routing based on transparent proxy stack to enable plug&play network integration ability;
  • Deep content scanner modeling mechanism to allow the rapid implementation of Deep content inspection for application layer protocols;
  • Open Service Bus architecture for applying security services to the L7 payload;
  • Patented optimization algorithms for content recognition technology which delivers 30 times performance improvement than conventional approaches;
  • Highest malware detection rate (99.96 percent or higher) with best of breed, multiple detection mechanisms.

WedgeOS 4.0 is currently undergoing beta testing for both performance and robustness and is projected for release to new and existing customers in Q2 of 2010. For information on other Wedge products, visit: www.wedgenetworks.com/products.html
